It is crucial when planning a karaoke night to really give some thought to what tracks you will sta
rt the night off with. You don’t want to spend all night listening to people murdering the classics so if you can sing a good belter or know someone who can then ask them to. You may think that putting the best singers first would put off the more shy singers but it generally doesn’t as it is something to aspire to. Of course the amount of alcohol will boost certain people’s confidence but it can also ruin their voices so asking the best singer to set your night off to a great start is the best idea. Also have certain tracks in mind and get your play list loosely organised so that someone is writing an order list and people can volunteer too but you need to encourage them. Your guest will feel inspired by your first few singers and if they are fairly poor then the sense of competition and fun will be really lacking.

If you are having a themed night then go for one everyone will know it and it will also help everyone vocals warm up as they sing along. If its a general karaoke night then go for the classics that all generations will have heard off. Here are 3 suggested songs for the start of the night:

The Boys Are Back In Town – it will inevitably spark the rivalry between the sexes and hopefully inspire a bit of sisters are doing it for themselves.
Don’t Go Breaking My Heart – if you happen to have a couple who can sing then this will get things started well
I Feel Like A Woman – Again one to spark a bit of boy girl rivalry but its also one of the best to get people dancing with air guitars too.

Good luck for your evening and remember to have fun
